I haven’t felt like whooping up a storm over the YES vote on social media but please don’t think for one moment that I am not overwhelmingly happy!
I feel a quiet relief and thankfulness that this country I live in has the collective common sense to vote for a right that should never have been questioned in the first place.
Now let’s see how quickly this can happen!
The Marriage Act of 1961 will need a long overdue overhaul. Celebrants will need to be educated, updated and enlightened in a speedy manner so that we can meet the needs of those that have been waiting a life time for their wedding day.
I predict 2018 to be a year overflowing with love, ceremonies, and joy - and I, for one (as I know that there are many of us) will be there for you all – gay or not, young or old, no matter what race or creed – I will do my upmost to give you a ceremony that encompasses you both and your wonderful, crazy, unique, love story.
I will give you time, respect and the very best of me as a celebrant and as a basic human being that sincerely and deeply wishes the very best for both of you.
